  • নতুন পোপ আর্জেন্টিনা হোর্গে মারিও বার্গোগ্লিও। সাউথ আমেরিকার কলঙ্কিত ইতিহাসের সঙ্গে ওনার যোগাযোগ তুলে ধরছে নীচের লেখাটি। মিড সেভেন্টিজে দক্ষিণ আমেরিকায় লেফ্‌টিস্টদের জেনোসাইডের যে প্রোগ্রাম চলেছিল (যারই পার্ট আলেন্দেকে খুন, শুধু চিলি নয় বলিভিয়া, ব্রাজিল, আর্জেন্টিনার মত অন্য দেশেও হয়েছিল একই কাজ) তার নাম অপারেশান কন্ডর। আর্জেন্টিনায় এই কাজ হয়েছিল যে মিলিটারী ডিক্টেটারের হাত ধরে তার নাম ছিল হোর্গে ভিদেলা। ঐ সময়ে মারিও বার্গোগ্লিও সোসাইটি অফ জীসাসের হেড হিসেবে ভিদেলার পাশে ছিলেন। চার্চের যে এলিমেন্টটা গরীবদের পাশে দাঁড়িয়েছিল তাদের তর্চারে ওনার প্রচ্ছন্ন সায় ছিল বলে অভিযোগ উঠেছে।

    While the two priests Francisco Jalics y Orlando Yorio, kidnapped by the death squads in May 1976 were released five months later. after having been tortured, six other people associated with their parish kidnapped as part of the same operation were “disappeared” (desaparecidos).     María Marta Vásquez, her husband César Lugones (see picture right) and Mónica Candelaria Mignone allegedly “handed over to the death squads” by Jesuit “Provincial” Jorge Mario Bergoglio are among the thousands of “desaparecidos” (disappeared) of Argentina’s “Dirty War”, which was supported covertly by Washington under “Operation Condor”.

    In the course of the trial initiated in 2005:

    “Bergoglio [Pope Francis I] twice invoked his right under Argentine law to refuse to appear in open court, and when he eventually did testify in 2010, his answers were evasive”: “At least two cases directly involved Bergoglio. One examined the torture of two of his Jesuit priests — Orlando Yorio and Francisco Jalics — who were kidnapped in 1976 from the slums where they advocated liberation theology. Yorio accused Bergoglio of effectively handing them over to the death squads… by declining to tell the regime that he endorsed their work.     China and Pakistan reached a formal agreement last month to construct a third nuclear reactor at Chashma that the Obama administration says will violate Beijing’s promises under an international anti-nuclear weapons accord.

    According to U.S. intelligence and diplomatic officials, the secret agreement for the Chashma 3 reactor was signed in Beijing during the visit by a delegation from the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission from Feb. 15 to 18.

    The agreement calls for the state-run China National Nuclear Corp. (CNNC) to construct a 1,000-megawatt power plant at Chashma, located in the northern province of Punjab, where two earlier Chinese reactors were built.

    China’s government last month issued an internal notice to officials within its nuclear establishment and to regional political leaders urging care to avoid any leaks of information about the nuclear sale that Beijing expects will be controversial, said officials who spoke on condition of anonymity.

  • পড়লাম। বেশ খেটে লেখা আর ব্যালেন্স্ড -ও। কিছু জায়গায় একমত না হলেও লেখাটির প্রশংসা করলাম। সাধরনত গুরুর ভালো লেখা চোখ না এড়ালেও এটা আগে দেখি নি।

    কিন্তু সিঙ্গুর, নন্দিগ্রাম ইস্যু তে গুরু, আর এখানকার কিছু মানুষের একচেটিয়া প্রচারের (সত্য, মিথ্যা মেশানো) বিরোধিতা করে যাবো সে আপনার কাছে তা "ছায়ার সাথে যুদ্ধ হলেও"। আপনারা ২০০১১ পর্য্যন্ত যে "চর্বিত চর্বন" বা "ছায়ার সাথে যুদ্ধ" করেছিলেন এটাকে তার প্রতিক্রিয়া হিসেবেই দেখুন।

    আমি জানি গুরুর বহু লেখকদের নিজেদের তো বটেই, তাদের ভবিষ্যত প্রজন্মের-ও পঃবঃ এর ভবিষ্যতের সাথে "দুর দুর তক" কোনো লেনা দেনা নেই। তাঁরা বাত্সরিক চুচুরা ভ্রমনের পরে বলবেন "শহরটা বৃদ্ধাশ্রম হয়ে গেলো" ( ভাগ্যিস রাজ্যটা ছেড়ে বেড়িয়ে এসেছি), পরক্ষনে টাটার সিঙ্গুর কারখানার বিরোধীতা করবেন যা নাকি ঐ শহর গুলোকে "যুবকাশ্রম" করতে পারতো। তাই তাঁরা আমার লেখার উদ্দেশ্য নন।

    আমার অবাক লাগছে রাশিয়া কেন সাইপ্রাসকে বেইলআউট করতে রাজী হল না। তাহলে কি যে সব রাশিয়ানরা সাইপ্রাসে টাকা রেখেছে তারা পুতিনের সাঙ্গোপাঙ্গ নয়? সে হলে একটা অন্য সন্দেহ এসেই পড়ে। পশ্চিমের সাথে পুতিনের যে ঝামেলা সেটা কি এই কারনে যে এই রাশান মাফিয়ারা পশ্চিমের বন্ধু? যেমন কিউবান মাফিয়ার সাথে আম্রিকার দোস্তির কারনে কাস্ত্রোর সাথে ওয়াশিংটনের ঝগড়া। কিন্তু তাহলে পশ্চিমী শক্তিরা মাফিয়া বন্ধুদের টাকায় থাবা বসাচ্ছে কেন? নাকি মাফিয়ার টাকা পুতিনের থাবা থেকে রক্ষা করার জন্য এটা প্রোটেকশন মানি?

  • রাশিয়া কেন বেলাউট করল না সেটা আমিও একদমই বুঝলাম না। এটা ঠিক, রাশিয়ান ইন্ডাস্ট্রিয়ালিস্টদের মধ্যে পুতিনের শত্রু অনেক আছে। কিন্তু বন্ধু ইন্ডাস্ট্রিয়ালিস্টও আছে। বিজনেসের সাপোর্ট ছাড়া এতদিন ওয়েস্টের অনস্লট ঠেকিয়ে রাখা মুস্কিল হত। শোনা যাচ্ছে সাইপ্রাসের ব্যাঙ্কিং সিস্টেমে ৮০ বিলিয়ানের মধ্যে ২০ থেকে ৩০ বিলিয়ান রাশিয়ান মানি। তার মধ্যে বন্ধু আর শত্রুর রেশিওটা তো কোথাওই বলছে না।

    এক হতে পারে রাশিয়া টাকাটা রাইট অফ করে দিচ্ছে। কারণ জিডিপির তুলনায় সাইপ্রাসের ডেট লেভেল খুবই হাই। রাশিয়া এখন লোন দিলে সেই লোন ফেরত পাওয়ার আশা কম। কিন্তু বদলে সাইপ্রাসের গ্যাস ফিল্ডে রাইট পেতে পারত আর মেডিটেরানিয়ানে আরেকটা নেভি পোর্ট পেতে পারত। সেই ডীলটা মনে হয় ওয়ার্ক আউট করে নি। আর এই ইইউ আর আইএমেফ যে লোন দিচ্ছে এও কি আর শোধ হবে? লাস্টে গিয়ে সেই দেশটা বিকিয়ে যাবে। সেটাই এন্ডগেম।

    আমার মতে সাইপ্রাসের পয়েন্ট অফ ভিউ থেকে বেস্ট হল ডিফল্ট করা। কারণ বাঁশ এমনিতেও খাবে, ওমনিতেও খাবে। কিন্তু ডিফল্ট করলে ইন্টারন্যাশানাল ইনভেস্টারদের একটু বাঁশ দেওয়াও হবে। ব্যাঙ্কারদের টাইট দেওয়ার ঐ একটাই রাস্তা। এবং ওতে রিকভারি হবে অপেক্ষাকৃত দ্রুত। অন্তত আইসল্যান্ডের এক্সপিরিয়েন্স থেকে তাই মনে হয়।

    While some Russian businesses are feeling the pinch in Cyprus, Prime Minister Medvedev has voiced the idea of offshore zones in Russia at a regular meeting of the government, where a state project to develop Russia's Far East was discussed.

    "If there is so much fuss going on, may be we should think of creating a kind of zone of our own in the Far East. We have bunch of good places there -- Sakhalin, the Kuril islands," Medvedev said, referring to the ongoing economic turmoil in Cyprus.

    Speaking about the project, Medvedev called the budget for it as "unprecedentedly big" -- more than $323 billion. The money will be mostly spent on transport infrastructure in the two remote regions.

    নিউজিল্যান্ড সম্বন্ধে শুনেছিলাম যে ১৫০-১৬০ বিলিয়নের ইকোনমিতে ৫-১০ বিলিয়ন কালো টাকা প্রতি বছর জমা পরে। এই টাকাটার উপরে ইকনমি খুব বেশি ডিপেন্ডেন্ট। এই টাকার একটা বড় অংশ ইন্ডিয়ান। ভেবে দেখুন এই টাকা কোনোদিন ঐ দেশ থেকে বেরবে না, মানে সোজা নিউজিল্যান্ডের হস্ত্গত। কারণ কেউ তুলতে গেলে ডিসক্লোজ করার ভয় দেখাবে।
