  • সেটা তো হতেই পারে, বেরেজভস্কিকে পুটিনের কাছে বেচে দিল। হয়ত পুটিন আসাদকে এট্টু কম সাপোর্ট করবে বলেছে।

    শেষ অবধি তো স্পেকুলেট করা ছাড়া উপায় নেই। তবে স্পেকুলেশনের সুবিধা হল হেলদি স্কেপটিসিজম জাগিয়ে রাখে। আর স্পেকুলেটিভ হাইপোথিসিসগুলো যেমন যেমন তথ্য আসে ভ্যালিডেট করে নেওয়া যায়।

The money was then transferred to London, reported Cypriot newspaper Haravgi, affiliated to the communist-rooted AKEL party.

    The withdrawal was fulfilled just three days before the Eurogroup meeting when euro finance ministers agreed a 10 billion euro ($13 billion) bailout for Cyprus.

    The company, however, has firmly denied the reports.

    Once the refinery’s leak reached the threshold that would require it to be reported, ExxonMobil announced that it had released 100 pounds of hydrogen sulfide and 10 pounds of benzene, a volatile compound known to cause cancer.

    According to the Coast Guard’s National Response Center, however, the oil company is now unsure of the quantities and of which chemicals may have contaminated the area. According to readings at the spill site, the refinery measured 160 parts per million of hydrogen sulfide and 2 parts per million of benzene in the air. Meanwhile, an online version of the report filed by the company simply stated that an unknown amount of wastewater had leaked from its Number 1 flare drum.

    The FAA announced a temporary no-fly zone would be enacted indefinitely over the Arkansas oil spill. With word that an Exxon employee was controlling the airspace, though, speculation pointed to the idea the oil company was trying to keep the media away.

    The Federal Aviation Administration announced Monday that until further notice, no aircraft will be allowed to operate over the Mayflower oil spill in Conway, Arkansas. While there was scant explanation for the mandate, it was “effective immediately” - and ordered to stay in place “until further notice.”

    The FAA's online posting raised some questions Wednesday, though, by noting that “only relief aircraft operations under direction of Tom Suhrhoff” are permitted in the area. On his LinkedIn profile, Suhrhoff lists himself not as an emergency expert or safety official, but as an aviation adviser for ExxonMobil. Prior to ExxonMobil, according to his profile on the professional social network, he worked as a US Army pilot for 24 years.

    Two of the most senior executives at Bank of Cyprus may have deleted crucial e-mail documents last year related to what proved to be a disastrous decision to invest heavily in Greek government bonds just before Greece’s international bailout in 2010, according to an investigative report commissioned by the central bank of Cyprus.

    The report said forensic experts found that the computer belonging to the bank’s former chief executive, Andreas Eliades, who was forced to resign last summer, had “wiping software loaded which is not part of the standard software installations” at the Bank of Cyprus.

    Investigators also found such software on the computer of Christakis Patsalides, a senior executive in the bank’s treasury department who, according to the report’s findings, was a driving force behind the decision to buy the Greek government bonds. Mr. Patsalides has also left the bank.

    Austerity measures and spiraling unemployment have left many Greeks without the means to pay for heating. In desperation some have taken to illegally chopping down firewood, damaging historic forests.

    As winter heating costs have been reported as high as 2000 euro for oil and just 500 euro for wood, local resident Apostolis Alexiou told RT that he understands why more people are becoming involved in the illegal logging trade.

    “They are forced to go cut wood illegally, because they have to pay all these taxes the government forces on us,” he told RT.

    As the heating oil is harder and harder to afford, the thousand year old forests in Northern Greece are now under threat.
