    ৭৮এর বন্যায় সিপিএম পার্টি হিসাবে মানুষের পাশে ছিলো। সরকারও ছিলো। সেবার ওরকম একটা বন্যার পরেও শহরগুলোতে অসহায় মানুষ এসে ভিড় করে নি। এটাই প্রমান যে সরকার ও পার্টি কত ভালো কাজ করেছিলো।
    অপারেশন বর্গা। ভালো কাজ সন্দেহ নেই। কিন্তু সেই ভালো কাজ কে কিভাবে দলীয় কাজে লাগিয়েছে তার বহু বহু দলিল আজ পাওয়া যায়। নতুন একটা বাংলা শব্দ তৈরী হলো পাট্টাদাস।
    পঞ্চায়েত। একই ব্যাপার। একটা অসীম সম্ভাবনাপূর্ণ কাজকে স্রেফ দলীয় স্বার্থে ব্যবহার করে নষ্ট করে দিয়েছে সিপিএম।
    এর পর তো ১৯৭৯ থেকে মরিচঝাঁপি দিয়ে মানুষ বিরোধী কাজের শুরু।
    আর ৭২ থেকে ৭৭? সিপিএম রাস্তায় নামলো সম্ভবত : ৭২-এর ভূখ মিছিল। ব্যাস। তারপর টুঁ শব্দটি নেই। রেল ধর্মঘটে নেতৃত্ব দিলো জর্জ ফার্ণান্ডেজ। সে বিশ্বাসঘাতকতা করে ধর্মঘট ভাঙ্গলো, সিপিএম লড়াই তুলে নিলো না। চুপ করে থাকলো। অথচ আর সাতদিন ধর্মঘট চললে রেশন ব্যবস্থা, ডাক ব্যবস্থা ভেঙ্গে পড়তো। ইন্দিরার তখন কোন কিছু সামলানোর ক্ষমতা থাকতো না।

    মমতাকে কারা বামপন্থী বলেছিল সেটা কাগজপত্র ত্থেকে বের করে ফেলা খুব সহজ। বামপন্থী কবীর সুমন প: বঙ্গবাসীদের বলেছিলেন -""দেখা হলেই জয় মমতা"" বলতে। মমতাকে প্রথম আশার আলো দেখান চারুবাবুর মন্ত্রশিষ্য অসীম চাটুজ্জে মশাই - খুব আশায় ছিলেন যে সুভাষ চক্কোত্তি দল ভেঙ্গে চলে এসে হাত মেলাবেন তাঁদের সঙ্গে। আপনার হিসেবে সিপিএম যেহেতু ভুলেরই কারবার করেছে, তাদের ওপরে আর কোন আশা না রাখাই ভাল। অপেক্ষায় থাকি কবে দেবলীনা মুখ্যমন্ত্রী হয় তাহলে নোনাডাঙ্গার মত ঘটনা ঘটবে না আর!!

    আমি ভোটের কথা বলিনি। ""তোল্লাই"" দেওয়ার কথা বলেছি বারে বারে - মমতাকে বামমার্গী নেত্রী হিসেবে তুলে ধরার কথা বলেছি। তার জন্য এসইউসি, সইফুদ্দিন, কিষাণজী, মাতঙ্গিনী, এম-কে-পি (পাইএর দেওয়া সুমনের কথা পড়ুন) সকলেই দায়ী। ভোটের আগে এদের প্রায় সকলকে গলাধাক্কা দেওয়ার পরে এরা মমতার বিরুদ্ধে কথা বলতে শুরু করে। নোনাডাঙ্গা দিয়ে সেই বাঘে খেয়ে নেওয়া হিসেবের কড়ি কি মেলানো যাবে?

  • এর আর ঠিক বেঠিকের কি আছে? যা প্রত্যাশিত ছিল তাই হয়েছে। আগামী দিনে আরো হবে। ময়ুরপুচ্ছধারী কাকের একটা একটা করে পালক খসে পড়ছে।

    মধ্যবিত্ত, উচ্চমধ্যবিত্ত, সংবাদ মাধ্যম (রতিকান্ত যতই ন্যাকামো করুক) এবং যারা কলকাতাকে তিলোত্তমা করতে চাইছে নীল-সাদা রঙে আর তিন-ঠ্যাঙা আলোতে তারা সকলেই চুপ করে থেকে এর সমর্থন করছে। কতজন কবি-শিল্পী মোমবাতি নিয়ে রাস্তায় নামে দেখি - তবে তো সমস্যার গভীরতাটা মাপা যাবে।

  • নোনাডাঙার আন্দোলন সিপিএম বা অন্য বড়ো রাজনৈতিক শক্তির সাহায্য না পেলে আর খুব বেশিদূর যাবে না। উছেদ হওয়া মানুষের পাশে দাঁড়ানো ইত্যাদি হবে, কিন্তু রাজনীতিটা খুব বেশি এগোবে না। তেতো লাগলেও এটাই সত্যি। যদি না মমতার পুলিশ গুলি চালায়। গোবিন্দপুর থেকে সিঙ্গুর- প্রথমে যেই দেশলাই কাঠি জ্বালাক মমতা পুরোটা হাইজ্যাক না করা পর্যন্ত কোনো আন্দোলন এত বড়ো আকার পায় নি।

  • এই একই রকম উচ্ছেদ তো সিপিএম ও করে এসেছিল। অ্যাকচুয়ালি আজকের নোনাডাঙা তো পুরানো ঘটনাগুলোরই ফল বা কন্টিনিউয়েশন। সেগুলোর বিরোধিতা করেছিলেন ? সেখানে চুপ করে থাকলে তার মানেটা কী দাঁড়ায় তাহলে ? :)

  • সিপিএম যা করেছিল তাই করছে মমতা, এই যুক্তিতে সকল ল্যাঠাই চুকিয়ে দেওয়া যায়। কথা ছিল তো পরিবর্তনের আর ঔদ্ধত্যের অবসানের - তার কি হল? আর সেই মেধা দিদি, তলোয়ার দিদি, স্বামী অগ্নিবেশ সেই সব দিকপালেরা কোথায় এখন?

  • না:, কথা হচ্ছে কে কী সমর্থন করেছে এই নিয়েও। তাই দিয়ে তাদের ন্যাকামো ট্যাকামো মাপা হচ্ছে।

    তা, সেদিন যারা সিঙ্গুরের বিরোধিতা করেছিল, আজও নোনাডাঙ্গার করছে।মমতার 'পরিবর্তন' হয়েছে। আর তাই তাঁদের সমর্থনেরও 'পরিবর্তন' হচ্ছে।সিপিএম করেছে, তার বিরোধিতা করছে। মমতা এসে সেই একই কাজ করছে। তাই ল্যাঠা চোকেনি। এখনো বিরোধিতা করতে হচ্ছে।
    এতে আপনার অসুবিধা হলেও অনেকেরই হচ্ছে না।

    বিষ্য ছেড়ে বি্‌য়্‌ক্‌ত তে যেতে এত পছন্দ করেন কেন জানিনা। কোন ইস্যুকে সমর্থন আপনার কাছে, ব্যক্তিকে সমর্থন। তা, সমর্থন যাঁরা করেছেন, তাঁরা অনেকেই সেটাকে সেভাবে দেখেন না। তো ?

    বরং, আপনি যে প্রশন্টার উত্তর বার বার পিছলে যাচ্ছেন, সেটা জানলে এসব ব্যাপারে আপনার স্ট্যান্ড বুঝতে সুবিধা হয়। মানে বিষয় নিয়ে কথা বলতে সুবিধা হয়।
    সিপিএম যে উচ্ছেদগুলো যেভাবে চালিয়ে গেছিল, তা সমর্থন করেন ?

  • আপনি একটা উচ্ছেদের লিস্ট পাঠান তাতে আমি Yes, No করে দাগ দিয়ে দেব। তবে শেষের দুটো বড় ঘটনা যেটার জন্য বাম সরকারের পতন হল, তার একটি নন্দীগ্রামে কোন উচ্ছেদ হয়নি, আর সিঙ্গুরে কোন গোলমাল হত না যদিনা মমতা অতিবাম-মেধা-তলোয়ারদের মদতে গোলমাল না পাকাত। সিঙ্গুরেও সেই অর্থে উচ্ছেদ হয়নি, এখন যা বোঝা যাচ্ছে তাতে ৪০ একরের মত জমির মালিক অনিচ্ছুক ছিল। সিঙ্গুরের গোটা ব্যাপারটাই কংগ্রেসের ফর্মুলা অনুযায়ী গেলে মিটিয়ে ফেলা যেত।

  • এই নোনাডাঙ্গায় গত কয়েকবছর ধরে যা হয়ে চলেছে, ওখানে কারা কেন কীভাবে কোন পরিস্থিতিতে আসছে, কীভাবে থাকছেন, আর কীসের সম্মুখীন হচ্ছেন, সেভাবে বড় মিডিয়গুলোতে আসেনা। এইরকম তুমুল কোন ঝামেলা না হলে। আরো অনেক জায়গাতেই এরকম উচ্ছেদ কিন্তু হয়ে চলেছে, অনেকদিন ধরেই।

    নাগরিক মঞ্চের রিপোর্ট নিয়ে গুরুতে একটা সিরিজ বেরিয়েছিল। পরে দিচ্ছি।
    সংবাদমন্থন ওখানের রিপোর্টগুলো অনেক দিন ধরেই কভার করছে। আপাতত: সেরকম কিছু দি।

    Over the past few years, more than 400 shanties had come up on the vacant land, turning the area into a bustling colony. Squatters, in ones and twos, started settling in the area from Aila-affected Sunderbans, Maoist-infested Jangalmahal and border areas . Though most of the settlers claimed they had been living on the Nonadanga land for the past three to four years, there are many who moved over in the past few months.

    The squatters claimed that they came to the land after local youths promised to settle them for a fee ranging between Rs 5000 and Rs 10,000.

    "I shifted here six months ago from nearby Mondolpara when some youths promised me permanent settlement here and asked me to pay Rs 9,000. My savings were not enough. Hence, I sold my gold earrings to cough up that sum. Now, everything has gone. I do not even know the youths personally," said a weeping Anjana Haldar.

    ১০৫ ও ১০৬ নং ওয়ার্ডের তিন নম্বর কালিকাপুর থেকে উচ্ছেদ হয়ে আসা শ্যামলী মণ্ডল সহ অন্যান্যদের কথায় শোনা গেল বেঁচেবর্তে থাকার অন্য এক সাতকাণ্ড।
    পুনর্বাসন পাইনি কেন আমরা
    --- ওখানে আমরা প্রায় ১৫-২০ বছর ধরে বাস করছি। হঠাৎ আমাদের এসে বলা হল, তোমাদের এখান থেকে উঠে যেতে হবে, তবে যাদের রেশন কার্ড বা ভোটার কার্ড আছে, তারা পুনর্বাসন পাবে, তার জন্য তোমাদের ছবি তোলা হবে। আমাদের ঘরের পুরুষেরা জোগাড়ে ও মিস্ত্রির কাজ করে, তাই তারা সকালেই বেরিয়ে যায়। আর আমাদের মেয়েরা অনেকেই বাবুদের বাড়ি ঠিকে কাজ করে। অনেক সময়ই আগে থেকে কিছু না জানিয়ে ছবি তুলতে এসেছে, তাই আমাদের প্রায় অনেকেই ছবি তুলতে পারেনি। বাবুদের বাড়ির কাজে এক দু'দিন কামাই করলে মুখ করে, দিনের হিসাব করে কাজ থেকে ছাড়িয়ে দেয়। ওদের মতে আমাদের অসুখ-বিসুখ নেই, ছেলেমেয়েদের সুবিধা-অসুবিধা ওরা বুঝতে চায় না। তা যা হোক করে আমরা ছিলাম ওখানে। ছবি তোলা শুরু হবার পর আমরা বুঝলাম যে আমরা অনেকেই কোন কিছু পাব না, আর মাঝে মাঝে কর্পোরেশন থেকে খোল করতাল বাজিয়ে সন্ধ্যাবেলা মেয়ে-ছেলে এসে আমাদের ওখান থেকে উঠে যাবার কথা বলত।
    নতুন বসতির খোঁজ
    ---যখন ওখানে আমাদের ঘর ভাঙতে শুরু করল, তখন আশেপাশে যাদের একটু জায়গা ছিল তারা ঘর ভাড়া দিত, তারা তখন ভাড়া ২-৩ গুণ বাড়িয়ে দিল, ঘর পার্টিশন করে ছোটো করে দিল। আমি (শ্যামলী মণ্ডল) বলি, কেউ ভাড়া যাবি না।
    আমি নিজে এসে রুবির পিছনে এই জায়গাটা দেখি। তখন এখানে উলুবাগান সাপখোপে ভরা, ঝোপঝাড় জল কাদায় ভরা। তখন এখানে মানুষ, গরু, কুকুরও মরে পড়ে থাকত। পিছনের দিকের ভেড়িতে মাঝে মাঝেই এখনও আইবুড়ো মেয়ে মানুষের লাশ পড়ে থাকতে দেখা যায়। আমি জায়গাটা দেখে আমার ওখানে গিয়ে বলি যে, তোমরা যদি আসতে চাও তো আমার সাথে চলো, আমরা সকলে গিয়ে ওখানে থাকি। ওরা সকলে বলল, মাসি তুমি যেখানে যাবে আমরাও সেখানে যাব। তারপর থেকে আমাদের এখানে আসা। বাধ্য হয়ে আমরা ছেলেমেয়ে নিয়ে এখানে একটু মাথা গোঁজার ঠাঁই করে নিয়েছি। বলুন আমরা কি অন্যায় করেছি?
    অনেকেই আমাদের মধ্যে ছড়িয়ে ছিটিয়ে গেছে। কেউ কেউ কষ্ট করে ভাড়া থাকছে। এখানে তখন বাস করার মতো জায়গা ছিল না, সমস্ত নেশাখোরদের আড্ডা। এখানে মাঝে মাঝে বোমা পড়ে আমাদের ভয় দেখানোর জন্য। আমরা ঘর বাঁধছি দেখে টাকা চায় ৫০০/৬০০ যেমন খুশি, কেউ যদি দিতে না পারে বা ৫০/১০০ টাকা দিতে চায় তাহলে তাকে বাপ মা তুলে গাল পাড়ে, বলে তোর বাবার জায়গা নাকি ঘর বাঁধছিস, ইত্যাদি ইত্যাদি। আমাদের ছেলেরা খুব ভয় পায় ওদের। ওরা ভোর রাতে বেরোতে ভয় পায়, আবার বেশি রাতে কাজ থেকে ফিরতে পারে না। ওরা কারা? কে জানে বাপু!
    নতুন ঘর
    ---আমরা লোকের বাড়ি খেটে খাই। আমাদের ছেলেরা বেশিরভাগই সব জোগাড়ের কাজ করে। তবুও এখানে আমরা স্বাধীনভাবে চাটাইয়ের ঘর বেঁধে আছি। আমাদের চাটাইয়ের ঘরের ওপরে টালির ছাউনি দেখে ওসব লোকেরা বলে আমাদের অনেক পয়সা আছে। বলি চটার বেড়া দিয়ে ওপরে টালি দিয়ে আমরা যে ঘর বাঁধছি, কিছু অন্যায় করেছি, না আমাদের পয়সা নেই বলে আমরা মানুষ না! ঐ যে ওখানে শনি মন্দিরের কাছে যে চাটাইয়ের দোকানদার লোকটা, সেই আমাদের বাঁচিয়েছে। ধারে আমাদের চাটাই দিয়েছে, টালি দিয়েছে ঘর ছাইবার জন্য। বলেছে, মাসে মাসে শোধ দিতে। এখনো অনেকের টাকা বাকি আছে।
    দেশ সুন্দরবন
    ---আমরা এখানে প্রথমে প্রায় ১৫০ ঘর বাসা বাঁধি, এখন প্রায় ২৫০ ঘর আছে। পঞ্চান্নগ্রাম পোড়ার পর অনেকে এসে বলল, দিদি তোমাদের এখানে একটু থাকার জায়গা হবে? আমরা বলেছি, থাক! ঘর করে নে! বলি, যারা একেবারে গরিব কিছু নেই তাদের থাকতে দিয়ে আমরা কি কোন অপরাধ করেছি বলুন? ওরা সত্যিই এত গরিব যে দেখলে আপনাদেরও চোখে জল আসবে।
    টানা এতগুলো কথা বলে শ্যামলী মণ্ডল বাঁহাতে নিজের কপালে থাপ্পড় মারলেন মশা মারার মতো। সত্যি মশায় ছেঁকে ধরেছিল আমাদের। সন্ধ্যার পর এরকমটাই হয়ে যায় লেক পল্লীর চারপাশটা। আলো যে টিম টিম করে জ্বলে কয়েক জায়গায়, তা শুধুই লম্ফ।
    চাটাইয়ের ঘরের উঠোনে বানানো মাটির উনুনে লম্ফ হাতে নিয়ে আলু বেগুনের তরকারি রান্না করতে করতে বলে উঠলেন, --- আমাদের দেশ সুন্দরবন। দেশে যদি থাকার মতো অবস্থা থাকত, তাহলে কেউ এখানে আসে এই অবস্থায়? তবে আমরা এখানে এখন একসাথে ভালৈ আছি, আমাদের কোন অসুবিধা নেই। শুধু জল আর লাইটের সমস্যা।
    আরেক লড়াইয়ের কথা
    কথা বলতে বলতে গোটা বস্তির অনেকেই জড়ো হয়ে গেছিল চারপাশে, ছেলেমেয়ে-বৌয়েরা। হঠাৎ শ্যামলী মণ্ডল বলে উঠলেন,
    ---এখান থেকে আমাদের যে তুলতে আসবে তাদের দেখে নেব। আমরাও সিঙ্গুর নন্দীগ্রামের মেয়েদের মতো লড়ব। ওরা যদি বন্দুক দিয়ে আমাদের দশটা মারে আমরা বঁটি দা নিয়েই লড়ব, তবুও এখান থেকে উঠব না। আর আমাদের যে একটু জল ও লাইটের ব্যবস্থা করে দেবে তাদের আমরা চিরকাল মাথায় করে রাখব। আমাদের এখানে বেশিরভাগেরই (৯০%) রেশন কার্ড ভোটার কার্ড নেই। তাই সরকারি সুযোগ-সুবিধার কোন প্রশ্ন ওঠে না। আমাদের ফ্ল্যাট দরকার নেই। এখানেই ভালো আছি। আমরা জানি ওরা ফ্ল্যাট দেবে বলে সরিয়ে দিয়ে, অন্য জায়গায় থাকতে বলবে, তারপর অন্যদের কাছে বেচে দেবে, বা দেবে না। ওদের আর বিশ্বাস করি না।
    আমাদের ছেলেমেয়েরা সবাই স্কুলে যেতে পারে না, ঐখানে দুটি স্কুলে কিছু ছেলেমেয়ে পড়তে যায়। মহাশ্বেতাদেবী পাঠশালাতেও কেউ কেউ পড়তে যায়। সমিতির রামবাবু, বাপিবাবু দু'জনের কাছ থেকেই আমরা সাহায্য পাই। আমরা এখানে নিজেদের মতো করে আছি। আপনারা দেখবেন যদি কিছু হয়। ছেলেমেয়েগুলি সন্ধ্যার পর একদম বসতে পারে না। জলের বড্ড কষ্ট। সবার ঘরে আলো জ্বলে না কেরোসিনের অভাবে।
    শ্যামলী মাসি আবার ফিরে যান লম্ফ হাতে তাঁর রান্নার কাজে। আমাদের এগিয়ে দিতে দিতে কলকাতার উপকন্ঠের এই নতুন গাঁয়ের মানুষেরা বললেন, আপনারা আবার আসবেন আমাদের খবর নিতে।

    একটা ব্যাপার খুব পরিস্কার। সিপিএম ৩৪ বছর ধরে সাংঘাতিক ভালো ভালো কাজ করেছিলো (নইলে আর ৩৪ বছার ধরে লোকে কি এমনি ভোট দিয়েছে!!!) কিন্তু কিছু অতি বাম, কিছু মিডিয়া আর মমতা মিথ্যে অপবাদ দিতে লাগলো, এইত্তো, সিপিএম খুব উদ্ধত হয়ে গেছে। কুশাসন চলছে ইত্যাদি প্রভৃতি। তাতে সারা প:ব: গাঢ়োল জনতা সিপিএমকে ফেলে দিলো।
    এবার মমতা এসে সেই উচ্ছেদ, সেই ঔদ্ধত্য দেখাতে শুরু করলো। তাতে যখন প্রশ্ন উঠলো - এটা কি ঠিক? জবাব হলো - এ ঠিক ও নয়, হা: হা: হা: বেঠিকও নয়। ঠিক বেঠিকের কি আছে? এই তো হওয়ার ছিলো।
    সিপিএম মার্কা জবাবই বটে। হে হে, বেঠিক বলো ক্যামনে!!!

    আমি যেটা বলতে চাইছি যে শুরুতে নেতাই ও অন্যান্য কান্ডের (তপন-শুকুরকে ছাড়িয়ে নেয়া ইত্যাদি) ফলে বেনাচাপড়া কান্ডে কংকালের ডিএনসি টেস্টে কনফার্ম হওয়ার পর লোক সহজেই অস্ত্রউদ্ধার ইত্যাদি বিশ্বাস করতে লাগল। কিছুদিন পরে যখন কথায় কথায় তিনোমূলীরা নিজেদের হাতে আইন নিয়ে যেখানে সেখানে সিপিএম

    অভিযোগ তুলে ঠ্যাঙানো এবং কথায় কথায় আগে ঠ্যাঙানো পরে আর্মস এর অভিযোগ ইত্যাদি শুরু হল এবং এদেরও নিজেদের লোককে ছাড়িয়ে নেয়া, তোলাবাজি ইত্যাদি শুরু হল তখন সবাই বুঝে গেছে যে যেখানে সেখানে হাড়গোড় পাওয়া গেলেই নিখোজ তিনোমূলী, অস্ত্র পাওয়া গেলেই সিপিএম বা মাওবাদী, আর তিনোমূলী নেতা-কর্মীরা ভাঙ্‌চুর হামলা করলে নিজেদের মধ্যে মারামারি করলে-- ওরা আসলে তিনোমূলী নয়, চক্রান্ত করে অন্যেরা আমাদের পতাকা নিয়ে ইত্যাদি ইত্যাদি।

    টিএমসির লিগাল সেল-এর গোটা তিরিশেক উকিল কোর্টে ঢোকে ও প্রায় স্লোগান গোছের দিতে শুরু করে।

    যেখানে গরীব মানুষ মুখোমুখী দাঁড়িয়ে, সেখানে এক পক্ষের পার্টির পতাকা ঢুকলেই অন্য দিকের ভ্যাকুয়ামটাও আর পড়ে থাকবে না। দখল হয়ে যাবে। আর সেই লড়াইটা হবে উচ্ছেদের বকলমে দুই পার্টির লড়াই, যেটা আরো সাংঘাতিক।

    এখন সময় সিভিল সোসাইটির এগিয়ে আসার। পার্টি আসুক, কিন্তু পতাকা না নিয়ে। ঐ মাতংগিনী মহিলা সমিতির মত ওখানকার লোকজনকে নিয়ে রাস্তায় নামুক সিভিল সোসাইটি, পার্টি পতাকা ছাড়া সংগ দিক।

    তবে ঐ যে, এখন আমরা নোনাডাংগা নিয়ে রাস্তায় নামলে পাব্লিক খোরাক করতে পারে। :(

    On30thofMarch2012atabout10am, personnelfromKolkataMetropolitanDevelopmentAuthority (KMDA) andpolicepersonnelfromTiljalaPoliceStationandPoliceHeadQuarter- Lalbazarwith3bulldozers, prisonvansapartfromregularvehiclesofpoliceand3fireengines, cametothelocality.Thehugeposseofpolicewasarmedwithfirearmsandlathis.TheKMDAhasnotservedanynoticebeforetheirevictiondrivethoughtheymadeaudioannouncementon28thMarchat4.00pmandaskedtheresidentstovacatetheplacewithin12hours.Theresidentstriedtheirbesttoargueagainsttheproposedevictionbutnotheededandalltheshantieswererazedandguttedingroundmakinghundredshomelesstofacescorchingsunandblindingrainandstorms.Pregnantwomen, lactatingmotherswiththeirchild, agedandschoolgoingchildrenwithsamefate.Fromthedayone, evictedgotfriendsfromdifferentcivilsocietygroupswhoareprotestingthemindlessbanishmentofpoorfromtheirsettlements.Thismakegovernmentmoreirresponsivetowardstheirsingledemandforresettlementandon4thApril2012, thepolicecamedownheavilyupontheprotestors, KolkataPolicealongwithagangofruffians (supposedlytherulingpartycadreswhowerewithoutpoliceuniforms) viciouslylathi-chargedonthedispossessedslum-dwellerswhiletheyorganizedaprotestmarchanddemandingforresettlement.Ahugepoliceforceattackedtheprotestersandstartedbeatingeveryoneruthlessly, includingwomenandinfants, withoutanywarning.Allthebelongings, i.e.clothes, stoves, utensils, tarpaulin, bamboostransistors, wristwatch, voterIDcards, rationcardsetc.werelootedandtakenbytheKMDAmenwiththehelpofpoliceparty.Noseizurelistwasprepared.Ms.RitaPatra;apregnantwoman, wifeofMr.SurajitPatracamefrom-village-BonshreeGouri, Debipur, Nandigram, District-PurboMedinipurwasseriouslyinjuredinthelathi-charge.Thereafter, shewasadmittedtoCalcuttaMedicalCollegeandHospital, wheredoctorsaskedhertowithdrawhercomplaint.AnotherinjuredwasMs.RinkiDas;agedabout21years, wifeofMr.RabiShankarDas, hercomplainthasnotbeenregisteredbythepolicethoughattendingdoctor;Dr.SubhrajitRoydocumenteddetailsofphysicalassaultonherbythepolice.Wehavedocumentedstatementsofthevictimsandeye-witnesses.
    On8thApril2011, theKolkataPolicearrested69activistsof“UchchhedPratirodhCommittee” (Anti-evictionCommittee) ofNonadanga (acommonplatformofdifferentcivilsocietyorganizations), includingwomenandkidswhentheywerepeacefullycontinuingamassdemonstrationprogrammeatRubyHospitalcrossingofEMBypassprotestingagainstforcibleevictionofslumdwellersandseekingtheirproperrehabilitation.AdaylongSit-inDemonstrationtoprotestagainstNonadangaslumdemolitionandforcibleeviction, startedatRubyjunctionat10am, shortlybeforenoon, alargepoliceforce, ledbyDeputyCommissionerofKolkataPoliceMr.BasabDasgupta, cametothespotandaskedtowithdrawthesitin, theprotestorsdeniedtoliftthesitin.Butthepolicebroketheirpeacefuldemonstrationallegingitas‘illegal’despitepolicewereinformedbeforehand.69protestersincludingevictedresidentsoftheslum;evenanine-year-oldMonikaKumariShaw, daughterofMr.DilipShaw, wasarrested.Thechildwasinthelockupwithhermothertill9pmwithallotherarrestedagitatorsviolatingJuvenileJustice (Care&ProtectionofChildren) Act.ArrestingpolicealsodeliberatelydidnotissueMemoofArrestforanybodyatthetimeofarrest.AllofthearrestedbeingdetainedandtakentoCentrallock-UpatLalbazar.Casesundersection151arebeingslappedonthedetainees.Lateron, atnightallcaptiveshavebeenreleasedexcept7civilsocietyactivists.TheactivistsstillincustodyareMs.DeblinaChakraborty, Ms.DebjaniGhosh, Mr.AbhijnanSarkar, Mr.SamikChakraborty, Mr.ParthoSarathiRay, Mr.SiddharthaGuptaandMr.ManasChatterjee.Theyhavefalselybeenchargedwithanumberofnon-bailablecriminalchargesfabricatedbythepoliceinconnectionwithTiljalapolicestationcaseno.103of2012dated4thApril2012.Thesesevenpersons, allarehumanrightsdefenders, havebeenarrestedunderSections143,149,332,341,342353ofIndianPenalCode.Accordingtopolicehigherupstheactivistswereinvolvedwithprovokingpeopleinwrongfulactivity, assembledillegally, andwrongfullyrestrainedandresistedpolicemen.Alltheallegationscharged, asperpolicerecord, weremadefortheirassociationwith4thMarchdemonstrationwiththeevictees.On4thApril2012, Prof. (Dr.) ParthoSarothiRoy, oneofthearrestedwasonhisdutyatNadiadistrict.
    InthiscontextIdemand:-
    1.ImmediateresettlementandrehabilitationmeasuresmustbetakenfortheevicteesofNonadangaaccordingtoR&RpolicyofGovernmentofIndia.
    2.Asthesaidevictionwasagainstallnormsofinternationalanddomesticparlance, thegovernment, police, KMDAdriveshouldbecondemned.
    3.Theerringofficialsofthegovernment, policeandKMDAmustbebookedaccordingtolaw.
    4.Policeofficialsviolatedthesetprocedureofarrestanddetentionmustbebookedaccordingtolaw.
    5.Theraidingpartymustbebookedforlootingandarsoning.
    6.ThecomplaintmadebyMs.RitaPatramustbeinvestigatedbyyourCommission
    7.Thevictimsmustbeprotectedfrompolicewrath
    8.Allthehumanrightsdefendersbeprotected.
    9.ActionmustbetakenagainstthedelinquentpolicepersonnelincludingMr.BasabDasguptaIPS.

    Sanhatistronglycondemnsthedetentionsofsevenactivists, includingthreeofitsmembers, andtheearlierdetentionofapproximately70residentsoftheNonadangaslum, whowereconductingapeacefuldemonstrationatRubyjunctioninprotestagainsttheevictionofhundredsoffamiliesintheNonadangacolonyinKolkata.ThearrestsfollowthebrutalattackbythepoliceonarallybytheevictedfamiliesatthesamelocationonApril4th, duringwhichseveralwomenandchildrenwereseverelyinjured.Moreover, thearrestsoccurredwhenpolicesuddenlydeclaredthedemonstrationtobeillegaldespitethefactthattheorganizershadobtainedpriorpermissionfromthelocalpolicestation.Thisturnofeventsamountstoagrossviolationoftheconstitutionallyguaranteedrightsofthepeopletodemocraticdissentandprotest.
    ResidentsofNonadangawereprotestingagainstevictionsfromtheirhomesonMarch30th.ThelandinNonadanga, whichisveryclosetoamajorintersectionontheEMBypass, isaprimetargetofrealestatedevelopersandthecurrentstategovernmentaimstoevictthe“encroachers”andmakeitavailablefor“beautification”.Incidentally, Nonadangaiswhereslumdwellers, whowereevictedfromvariouscanalbanksofKolkata, havebeenresettledoverthepastfiveyearsandhencetheuseoftheterm“encroachers”amountstoslander.InadditiontoputtingondisplaytheTMCgovernment’sconnivancewithrealestatedevelopers, yesterday’sarrestsandtheclampdownonprotestsispartofthedisturbingtrendofthecurrentgovernment’sintoleranceofdissentandthegeneraldeteriorationofthedemocraticrightssituationinWestBengal.
    Weurgealldemocraticmindedpeopletodemandtheimmediateandunconditionalreleaseofallthedetaineeswithannulmentofallcharges, adequateandpropercompensationandrehabilitationfortheevictedfamilies, andsuitablepunishmentofallthepolicepersonnelresponsibleforthebrutallathchargeonApril4th.

  • আমি সেই দলে পড়ি যারা বলেছিলো সিপিএম আগে যাক। আমি এখনো জোরগলায় সেটাই বলছি। আমি এখনো মনে করি সিপিএম এর থেকেও খারাপ। সেই জন্যই মনে করেছিলাম সিপিএম যাক, এখনো তাই মনে করি।

    নোনাডাঙ্গায় কেন লোকে এসে বসে সেটা আলোচনা করতে গেলে দিল্লী নিয়ে টানাটানি করতে হয়। সে আবার আপনাদের বিশেষ পছন্দ নয় কেননা তাহলে শুধু সিপিএমকে গালাগাল দেওয়াটা ঠিক জমে না। মনমোহন থাকবে, প্রণব থাকবে, আলুওয়ালিয়া থাকবে আর নোনাডাঙ্গা হবেনা - এই বোধহীন রাজনীতিতে আমার বিশেষ উৎসাহ নেই। যে কারণে ভোটের আগে বিস্তর পোস্টিংএ দিল্লীতে পরিবর্তনের সওয়াল করেছিলাম। আপনারা অবিশ্যি সিপিএমের ঔদ্ধত্যের অবসান চেয়েছিলেন। মমতাকে ক্ষমতায় বসিয়ে সেই মনমোহন-প্রণব-আলুওয়ালিয়ার হাতই আরও শক্ত করা হয়েছে। তাই ধৈর্য ধরুণ। সামনে আরো অনেক নোনাডাঙ্গা অপেক্ষা করছে।

    এই পরিবর্তনের পরে আমি ব্যাপারটাকে একটু অন্য ভাবে দেখার চেষ্টা করছি। সিপিএম আদৌ বামপন্থী কিনা এই নিয়ে গুরুতে বিস্তর সন্দেহ প্রকাশ করেছেন অনেকেই। আর আপনারা কয়েকজন তো সিপিএমের ভুলের বিস্তর লম্বা তালিকা নিয়ে সারাক্ষণই হাজির।

    আমি বরাবর বলে এসেছি যে অনেকের পছন্দ হোক বা নাই হোক ভারতীয় প্রেক্ষাপটে সিপিএম যথেষ্টই বাম এবং এই দলটিকে বাদ দিয়ে বামপন্থী আন্দোলন এই মুহূর্তে অশ্বডিম্ব প্রসব করবে।

    আপনার ইতিহাস অনুযায়ী ৭২-৭৭ ""কিছু না করেও"" সিপিএম-ই ক্ষমতায় এসেছিল। অর্থাৎ আর কোন বামের উত্থান সেই শুন্যতার মধ্যেও সম্ভব হয়নি। সেই তত্বটা আরেকবার পরীক্ষা করার একটা সুযোগ এসেছে।

    আমি চাই যে সিপিএম কিছুদিন হিমঘুমে থাকুক। বাম আন্দোলন নিয়ে যে সকল অন্য- এবং অতিবাম বিস্তর লম্বা লম্বা বুকনি ঝেড়েছে গত ৩৪ বছর ধরে, তারা এবার এগিয়ে এসে নিজেদের তত্বের বাস্তবতা প্রমাণ করুক এবং মাটির পৃথিবীতে তার প্রয়োগ করে দেখাক। তাদের ক্ষমতাতেও যেতে হবে কারণ সাইডলাইনের বাইরে বসে ভাষণ মারার দিন শেষ হয়েছে।

    এর পরেও যদি অন্য কোন বাম শক্তির উত্থান না হয় তাহলে ধরে নিতে হবে যে এই সব বুকনি নিছকই ফাঁকা আওয়াজ ছিল। এবং অভ্যাসগত সিপিএম বিরোধীতা করতে গিয়ে পক্ষান্তরে তারাই আরো নোনাডাঙ্গা হওয়ার পথ প্রসস্ত করে দিয়েছে।
