    Souva Chattopadhyay: At times, It is important to take sides, but it is important at all times to keep your reason intact.
    Recently, I can see that India is divided into two distinct factions--one always on its toe to show Modi as the glorious harbinger of change and development, the other demonising him and trying to find hint of communalism even in the way he sneezes.
    This reminds me of the days of Third Reich in Germany--the days of Hitler's rapid ascent to power and subsequent downfall. The Nazi followers believed him to be the messiah who will make Germany the super-power in Europe, even in the face of disastrous economic decisions or inglorious defeats in the eastern front.
    On the other hand, rest of Europe, especially after World War-II and during the Nuremberg Trials, chose Hitler and his associates as the face of evil and as ultimate enemies of humanity. Through this easy sleight of hand, they tried to forget and make the entire world forget the atrocities of the alliance (especially in Russian fronts), and, most importantly, the centuries of brutal and heinous crimes in the colonies by England, France, Spain and Portugal. How will the figures look like if we compare the total number of Africans or native Americans killed by the colonisers to the number of Jews killed by Hitler?
    Ultimately, humanity is nothing but a farce, and is always determined by the victor, the winner alone.
    But now, here is the question that comes to my mind-- are we trying to drown our day-to-day communalism, our day-to-day fascism (well-hidden behind our liberal masks) by creating a demonic picture of Modi and his communal sentiments? Isn't over-pampering the "minority" or being too patronising towards them (ultimately reminding them of their status) another face of commulaism?

In Gorakhpur, the presence of hard-core pro-Hindutva leaders such as Gorakhpur MP Yogi Adityanath, former chief minister Kalyan Singh, Vinay Katiyar, Modi’s confidant Amit Shah, and the speeches by Adityanath, Kalyan, Katiyar and even party president Rajnath Singh before Modi spoke were strong-enough indications that the BJP-Hindutva association is not being diluted. While Katiyar raised slogans of Jai Shri Ram and thundered that a magnificent Ram temple would indeed be built in Ayodhya once the BJP comes to power, Rajnath Singh mentioned the Samajwadi Party government’s 'obsession' with launching schemes for Muslims only and the partisan action of the UP government during the Muzaffarnagar riots. However, the real task of spreading the H-word is being undertaken by Amit Shah and his team, comprising the activists of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

    Never before in post-independence India have political forces, which are a front for an organization committed to creating a Hindu Rashtra, made as strong a bid for power as in the coming elections. These forces are led by a person who presided over a pogrom against Muslims in Gujarat in 2002 and has never expressed any contrition over his role in that ghastly incident. And they enjoy the backing of the most powerful corporate houses in the country. The prospect of this alliance of corporate capital and communal forces coming to power constitutes a palpable threat to the future of our secular democracy.

    It is disturbing to see a tendency even among those who are aware of this danger to recede to a realm of wishful thinking and pretend that it does not exist. We urge all responsible individuals and political groups to shun such complacency, and to take whatever steps are necessary for preserving our secular democracy. We appeal to the electorate to foil this corporate-communal alliance’s bid for power by voting against the NDA that represents it.

    'গুজরাটের উন্নয়নের চেহারা এখন এই পর্যায়ে পৌঁছেছে, যে অচিরেই ‘সুইসাইড ক্যাপিটাল’ নাম পেলেও অবাক হওয়ার কিছু নেই৷‌ এখনও পর্যম্ত গত ৫ বছরে মোদির রাজত্বে ২টি বৃহত্তম রেকর্ড হয়েছে৷‌ ৫৫০০ কৃষক আত্মঘাতী হয়েছেন, আর দেনা শোধ না করতে পেরে ৯১৯ জন খেতমজুর আত্মহত্যা করেছেন৷‌ এর পাশেই অন্য ছবি হল, জমি অধিগ্রহণ করা নিয়ে রাজ্য সরকারের তাত্ত্বিক নেতাদের সঙ্গে প্রতি মুহূর্তে সঙঘাত বেধেছে কৃষকের৷‌ ভাবনাগর জেলা থেকে অদূরেই মাহুয়া গ্রামে ২৫,০০০ কৃষককে উচ্ছেদ করে জমি কেড়ে সিমেন্ট ফ্যা’রি বানানোর পরিকল্পনা চলছিল৷‌ কিন্তু ধারাবাহিক আন্দোলনের ফলে কৃষকেরা সেই জমি বাঁচাতে পেরেছেন৷‌ আপাতত সিমেন্ট ফ্যা’রি গড়ার চেষ্টা বন্ধ রয়েছে৷‌ শুধু তাই নয়, বরোদা থেকে মুম্বই এক্সপ্রেস হাইওয়ে করার জন্য ফিতে ফেলে ৬ লেনের যে রাস্তা করার কথা ভাবা হয়েছিল, সে জন্য প্রতিটি অঞ্চলেই কৃষকেরা নামছেন পথে৷‌ এক দিকে চলছে আন্দোলন, অন্য দিকে চলছে মোদির ভাষণ৷‌ এতদিন রাজকোট শহর সারা বছরে আত্মঘাতী হওয়ার নিরিখে ওপরের দিকেই ছিল৷‌ কিন্তু সেই বিষ ছড়িয়ে গেছে এখন প্রায় গোটা গুজরাট জুড়েই৷‌ কারণ হিসেবে উঠে এসেছে বেশ কয়েকটি দিক৷‌ সরকারি সহায়তা প্রায় অমূল্য হওয়ায় চড়া সুদে মহাজনের কাছে হাত পেতে টাকা নিতে হয়৷‌ সেই টাকা শোধ দেওয়া গরিব কৃষকের কাছে দুঃসাধ্য ঠেকে৷‌ এরই সঙ্গে যুক্ত হয়েছে খনি কেলেঙ্কারি৷‌ বেআইনি খনি খননের কাজে একেবারে নেতৃত্ব দিয়ে রাজ্যের মন্ত্রিসভার এক মন্ত্রী বাবুভাই বুখারিয়া সুনাম কিনেছেন ‘চোরি, রিশওয়ত-খোরি’ অর্থাৎ চুরি আর ঘুষ এই নিয়েই বুখারিয়া বসে আছেন৷‌ অন্য দিকে রাজ্যের এক মৎস্যমন্ত্রী পুরুষোত্তম সোলাঙ্কি৷‌ তাঁর মহান কর্মটি হল, বেআইনিভাবে মাছ ধরার ঠিকাদারি ঠিক করে দেওয়া৷‌ তাঁর বিরুদ্ধে আদালতে ঝুলছে বহু মামলা৷‌ গত ৩ বছর ধরে এই মামলায় রাজ্যের প্রতিটি মানুষের আলোচনার বিষয় হয়েছে কিন্তু ‘উন্নয়নের মডেল গুজরাটে’র পুরুষোত্তম সোলাঙ্কি সত্যিই উত্তম পুরুষ৷‌ শুধু এখানেই শেষ নয়, উন্নয়নের তৃতীয় দফার সূত্র মিলেছে ভদোদরা আরবান ডেভেলপমেন্ট অথরিটির বিরাট উন্নয়নমূলক কাজকর্মে৷‌ ৫৫০০ মধ্যবিত্ত পরিবারের জন্য ঠিকাদারের হাত দিয়ে ঢালাও বিজ্ঞাপন দিয়ে সরকার গড়েছিল আবাসন৷‌ ১০ বছর যেতে না যেতেই তার একটি অংশ ভেঙে পড়ে এবং ১০ জন মারা যান৷‌ এই চিত্র অবশ্য মোদি মানতে নারাজ৷‌ ৬ লেনের রাস্তা আর সূর্যের তাপ থেকে আলো নিয়ে মানুষের ঘরে আলো জ্বালানোর চেষ্টাকেই তিনি তাঁর সাফল্যের মহীরুহ হিসেবে দেখাচ্ছেন৷‌ এই সময়ের তরুণ প্রজন্মের কাছে মোদি নাকি ‘বিকাশ পুরুষ’৷‌ বিকাশের এই ধারায় দেখা গেছে, শিক্ষা ও স্বাস্হ্যে সর্বভারতীয় নিরিখে গুজরাট পিছিয়ে৷‌ শুধু তাই নয়, শিক্ষা ও স্বাস্হ্য পৌঁছে দেওয়ার জন্য সরকারি উদ্যোগের ক্ষেত্রেও সে রাজ্য দেশের অন্যান্য রাজ্যের তুলনায় উল্লেখযোগ্য কিছু করেনি৷‌ অথচ মোদি বলছেন, তাঁর মডেলই দেশ গড়ার উন্নয়নের সেরা মডেল৷‌ কৃষকেরা তা হলে গুজরাট বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের রাষ্ট্রবিজ্ঞানের এম এ পাস করা প্রাক্তন ছাত্রের প্রতি এত বিরূপ কেন? দুটো কারণ হিসেবে প্রচারে তুলে আনছেন বামপম্হীরা৷‌ সামগ্রিকভাবে সার্বিক উন্নয়নের প্রশ্নে বিভিন্ন মানুষের গড় আয়ের ভিত্তিতে যে কাজ হওয়া উচিত, সে কাজে গুজরাট পিছিয়ে আছে৷‌ শুধু তাই নয়, বিপদ হয়েছে অন্যত্রও৷‌ খেতমজুর, কৃষক, শ্রমিক এই তিন শ্রেণীর মধ্যে জাতপাতের প্রশ্নটিও গত ১০ বছরে প্রকট হয়েছে মহামহিম মোদির শাসনকালে৷‌ গরিবের জাত, ধর্ম থাকা উচিত নয়, এই সহজ সত্যটাই মানুষের কাছে পৌঁছে দিতে পারেনি হোয়াটসঅ্যাপ-এ উত্তর-প্রত্যুক্তর দেওয়া মোদির তথ্যপ্রযুক্তি বাহিনী!'

    রামরাজ্য মানে, রামের রাজ্য। রহিমেরা, হয় রামকে সম্পূর্ণ সমর্থন জানিয়ে বেঁচে থাকবে, নয় তো তাদের রাবণ বলে ডিক্লেয়ার করা হবে। গল্পের শেষে রাবণের কী হয়, সবাই জানে।

    রামরাজ্য মানে সমস্ত এনকাউন্টার জেনুইন। যেখানে, যত জায়গায় আতঙ্কবাদী হিসেবে রহিমদের ধরা হবে, মারা হবে, সমস্ত জেনুইন কেস হবে। আহা, রাম বড় প্রজাপালক রাজা।

    রামরাজ্য হলে, সবথেকে বড় লাভ যেটা হবে, পাকিস্তান টোটাল চুপসে লাট হয়ে যাবে। আর ভারতের পেছনে কাঠি করার সাহসই পাবে না। একবার ট্যাঁফোঁ করলেই রামচন্দ্র লোকলস্করসৈন্যসামন্ত নিয়ে পাকিস্তানের গুষ্টির তুষ্টি করে বাপের নাম খগেন করে ছেড়ে দেবে। জীবনে আর মাথা তুলে দাঁড়াবার সাহস পাবে না পাকিস্তান। আহা, রামচন্দ্র বড় দেশপ্রেমিক।

    রামরাজ্য হলে দেশের সমস্ত মুসলিম কমন ইন্ডিয়ান পিনাল কোডের আওতায় পড়ে যাবে, মুসলিম পার্সোনাল ল বোর্ডকে ঝাঁটার কাঠিতে ঝুলিয়ে আরব সাগরে ডুবিয়ে দিয়ে আসা হবে। এর পরে আর কেউ একটার বেশি বিয়ে করার সাহস দেখাক তো, রাজা রাম তাকে এমন সহবত শিখিয়ে দেবেন ।।।

    রামরাজ্য হলে পুরনো খুনখারাবি ভুলে মুসলমানরা সবাই মহারাজ রামের নামে জয়ধ্বনি দেবেন। সত্যিই তো, কবে কোনকালে একটা দাঙ্গায় কিছু মুসলমান মরেছিল, তাই নিয়ে দশকের পর দশক ধরে কান্নাকাটি করা পোষায় নাকি? সলমন খানের বাবা ঠিকই বলেছেন। সর্দারগুলোর তো মাথায় বুদ্ধি আরও কম, ওদেরও বোঝাতে হবে, সেই কবে তিরিশ বছর আগে কয়েকটা সর্দারকে খুঁচিয়ে খুন করা হয়েছিল, তাই নিয়ে এখনও কান্নাকাটি করবার সত্যিই কি আর কোনও দরকার আছে? স্বয়ং ভগবানের অবতার শ্রীরামচন্দ্র আমাদের রাজা হবেন, সব ভুলে তাঁর নামে ওয়াহ্‌ রামজী কি ফতে বলে চিক্কুর ছাড়তে হবে। ব্যস, তা হলেই শান্তিকল্যাণ।

    রামরাজ্য হলে লোকায়ুক্ত আর দরকার হবে না। শ্রীরামচন্দ্র স্বয়ং নিষ্পাপ, ভগবানের অবতার, তাঁর ওপরে নজর রাখার জন্য তুচ্ছ কিছু মাইনে করা লোক রাখতে হবে? দেশে কি নিয়মকানুন বলে কিছু নেই? ছিঃ!
