    'Shehla Rashid, Vice President of JNUSU had addressed students of St Josephs on 11th March where she spoke extensively on the growing repression on the student community across India. She made an open call for solidarity from the students of Bangalore to come out in support of JNU, to push for passing the Rohith Vemula Act, and for the release of comrades Umar, Anirban and Geelani. Responding to this, a coalition of students and groups led by the students of St Josephs are taking out a rally in solidarity on 15th March from Town Hall to Freedom Park at 4 PM. In addition, the Coaltion also demands for lifting of the ban on student unions in Karnataka and lifting of charges on the BVS activists who were peacefully protesting against the institutional murder of Rohith Vemula.     The arrests and possible arrests of our comrades had given me sleepless nights. I would get nightmares of police raids and wake up in the middle of the night, scared and exhausted.
    After the release of Comrade Kanhaiyya, there was some relief.
    But now, with the release of Umar and Anirban, it seems that we can actually heave a sigh of relief before we gear up again for an intensified struggle, again.

    Congratulations to all progressive forces, and the entire JNU community!

    My deepest sympathies to Times Now, Zee News, Prof Bhupinder Zutshi, Prof Amita Singh, B. S. Bassi, Saurabh Sharma and Anupam Kher.

    Umar and Anirban will be released tonight. May be released by tomorrow or Monday. But we will celebrate this little victory nevertheless. Join unity march TONIGHT from Ganga Dhaba to Ad Block at 9:30 pm

    On the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus for the screening of his film this evening, actor Anupam Kher today said, "'People who are out on bail cannot be welcomed on campus.'"
    Actor Anupam Kher had earlier alleged that the JNU authorities had refused to screen his film.

    His remarks came hours after JNU students Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya, were granted bail by a court. The two are yet to be released.
    Their supporters, including JNU students' union president Kanhaiya Kumar, , are planning a unity march on the campus tonight.
    "Someone who has returned on bail is not an Olympic hero," Mr Kher said.

    The court in its order, granting the two six months' interim bail, observed that "both are highly educated persons."

    Addressing a gathering on the campus minutes before the screening of his film "Buddha stuck in a traffic jam", Mr Kher said, "I want the focus shifted back from kranti (revolution) to desh bhakti (nationalism)." As he spoke, a few people in the gathering shouted "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" slogans.

    Last week, Mr Kher had alleged that the JNU authorities had refused to screen his film. The university responded by saying he had never made a request - verbal or written - for the film to be screened.

    Hours after he was released on bail in a sedition case, JNU student Umar Khalid charged the government of spreading false rumours against him. "I did not project myself as a practising Muslim but I was treated like an Islamist terrorist," he said in a speech on campus tonight.

    His speech, attended by hundreds of supporters including JNU students' union president Kanhaiya, followed a solidarity march after he was released from jail along with fellow JNU student Anirban Bhattacharya.

    The two were granted bail earlier today and released from Tihar jail, 26 days after they had surrendered in the sedition case against them. The case pertains to organising a programme on the campus on February 9 against the hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.

    Mr Khalid led the crowd is shouting slogans against the RSS. "I want to say this government and RSS felt they could break us, our unity and our courage. They were wrong," he said.

    The JNU student said he felt "no grief or embarrassment over being booked for sedition."

    Sedition, he said, "is the law under which the great freedom fighters of our country were booked. Our name has been clubbed with theirs," he said.

    "Freedom of expression is not under threat, if you are with the regime," Mr Khalid said. "I did not consider myself a practicing Muslim but I was projected as an Islamist terrorist. It seemed as if the entire Muslim community is on trial. I felt like the reluctant fundamentalist who wanted to grow a long beard," he said as he charged the government with being "anti-Dalit, anti-tribal and anti-humanity."
