    কাগজ পড়ে ঠিক বুঝলাম না। পুলিশের অপদার্থতা , অবস্থা সামলাতে না পারা - এটাই হয়ত ঘটনা, বা পিছনে আরও কিছু আছে - জানি না; তবে খুব খুব বাজে ব্যাপার। তদন্ত হোক, কিন্তু আমাদের পোড়া দেশে তো নিরপেক্ষ তদন্ত-ও হয় না, হলেও রিপোর্ট চাপা পড়ে যায়।
    কিষেণজির মৃত্যুও তো কত প্রশ্ন তুলল - দেহে এত আঘাতের দাগ - অথচ জামায় রক্তের দাগ নেই, এত শীর্ষস্থানীয় নেতা মাত্র তিন জন লোকের সাথে জঙ্গল প্রায় শেষ হয়ে এসেছে, এমন ফাঁকা জায়গায় যৌথবাহিনীর মুখোমুখি, এদিকে যৌথবাহিনী নাকি তিন দিন ধরে মাইক বাজিয়ে তাকে ওয়ার্নিং দিয়ে যাচ্ছে - গল্পের গরু গাছে উঠেই চলেছে...

    OnthenightofNovember22, MaoistsguerrillasstationedinWestMidnapore’sBinpurhadtoldtheir“Dada”, Kishan, nottocomeanywherenearKusumdangavillageontheedgesofKushboniforest, wherehewasmeanttospendthenight, asthejointforceswereactiveinthearea.

    Kishan, whowasonamissiontomobilisethepeopleoftheareasothattheydidnotdefecttoTrinamul, listenedtothemand, instead, stayedatavillageabout4kmaway.Suchitra, anotherMaoistsquadmember, wasaccompanyinghim.Thenextday, earlyinthemorning, thejointforcesenteredKusumdangavillageandsearcheditbutcouldnotfindanytraceofKishan.

    OnthemorningofNovember24, KishandecidedtotraveltoGosaibandhvillageintheadjoiningBurisholeforest.HewaswarnedagainstthismovebyhisactionsquadmemberswhotoldhimthatthejointforcesweremovingtowardsGosaibandh.

    ButKishandecidedtoignoretheiradvice, confidentthathewouldbetippedoffmuchinadvancebythevillagersifthejointforcescameanywhereclosetohim.“HetoldusnottoworryandhavefaithinthepeopleofJungleMahal,”aMaoistsaid.

    KishanwenttoGosaibandhonNovember24morning, spentafewhoursthereandthenproceededthroughBurisholeforesthopingtomakeittoJharkhandbynight.HetoldhissquadmembersthatonlytwoofthemandSuchitrashouldaccompanyhimasalargegroupranofhigherriskofbeingspottedbythesecurityforces.

    AtGosaibandh, whichisabout5kmsfromBurisole, oneDharmendra, thirdyearstudentofgeographyatalocalcollege, waspickedupforallegedlyshelteringKishanjiandthepoliceclaimedtohaveseizedalaptop.ThefamilysaidthatthebagbelongedtoDharmendraandtherewasnolaptopinitinsteadRs20,000wasstolenandfamily’srationcard, certificatesandOBCcardwereseizedtoo.
    PoliceStationJamboni:TheteammembersspoketoSISabyasachiBodhakandaskedhimwhendidtheyreceiveinformationabouttheencounter, whoinformedthemaswellaswhowrotetheFIRsinceitfellintheirjurisdiction.AccordingtothemtheyreceivedtheinformationfromAdditonalSPofJangalmahalAloknathRajoriatnightataround10.30pm.AnditistheAddlSPwhowrotetheFIR.ItisimportanttonotethattheinvestigationhasbeenentrustedtotheDSPCB-CIDwhereasthecomplainantisasuperiorofficer.Thisviolatesthebasicprincipleofnaturaljusticethatasuperiorofficerthanthecomplainantofficerinvestigatethecrime.
    WewishtorecallthenatureofinjuriesonthebodyofKishanji.Therewerebullet, sharpcutsandburninjuries.Surprisinglytherewasnoinjurymarksonhisshirtandpantcorrespondingtohisbodyparts.

    Ourobservations:Consideringtheextentofthedamagecausedtothebodyagainsttheratherundisturbedsurroundingofthespotwherethebodylayraisesoursuspicionabouttheofficialversion.Thereportedofficialversionthemselvessufferfrominconsistencies.Foreg.WhereasChiefMinisterMamtaBannerjeeclaimedthatforthreedaysaKishanjiandhiscompanionswereencircledandtheywereaskedtosurrender, butthevillagersdenyhavingheardanypublicannouncermentoverloudspeakerofanykindmuchlessaskinghimtosurrender.MrVijayKumarDGofCRPFwentonrecordon25thNovemberthatKishanjialongwiththreeotherswerekilledinanencounterwhereasonlyasinglebodywasfound! Thereportednumberofbulletsfiredsaidtobeseveralhundredinthecourseof15-30minutelongencounterdonotcorrespondtothespotwherehisbodylay.
    ThekillingofKishanjitookplaceagainstthebackgroundoffledglingeffortstoinitiatetalksbetweenthestateGovernmentofWestBengalandtheCPI(Maoist).Withhisdeaththeseeffortshavebeendealtafatalblow.WecannotbutwonderifthisisarepeatofwhattranspiredlastyearonJuly1-2whenCherukuriRajkumar@Azadwaskilledinafakeencounter.
    Wewishtopointoutthatinthecontextofacrimecommittedintheareaaffectedbyarmedconflictinvestigationbyonebranchoftheadministrationintotheconductofanotherbranch, inthiscaseCB-CIDinvestigatingtheroleofjointforcescannotbeconsideredimpartialandunbiased.We, believethatonlyanindependentinvestigationforegbyanSITcanhelpunravelthetruth.
    Thistendstoconfirmoursuspicionthatthisappearstobeacaseofcustodialkilling.Therefore, wedemand:

    maximin মনে করে দেখুন , বুদ্ধ-র ঐ কুখ্যাত উক্তি টা গুলি ছোঁড়ার পরে নয়। ওটা নন্দীগ্রাম " পুনর্দখলের" পরে । সেটা গুলি ছোঁড়ার অনেকদিন পরে। কদিনেই ভুলে গেলে হবে।

    ভাল লাগবে যদি টেলিগ্রাফের রিপোর্টটাই সত্যি হয়। বীভৎস অত্যাচার করে, বেয়নেট দিয়ে খুঁচিয়ে খুঁচিয়ে মারা হয়েছে - এটা একটা দু:স্বপ্ন, সত্যি না হলেই খুশী হব।
    টেলিগ্রাফের রিপোর্টেও কিন্তু কিষেণজি ও তার সঙ্গীদের মাইকে আত্মসমর্পণ করতে বলা হয়েছিল - এমন কিছু লেখেনি। তিন দিন ধরে মাইকে সাবধান করা, মাওবাদীরা ৫০০ গ্রামবাসীকে হত্যা করার ছক কষছে বলে তার কাছে খবর ছিল - এ সবই নিছক মিথ্যা, জনসভায় লোক ভোলানোর জন্য বলা বলেই মনে হয়। কিষেণজির বিরুদ্ধে দেখামাত্র গুলির নির্দেশ ছিল না। টেলিগ্রাফের রিপোর্ট বলছে, কিষেণজিদের দিক ত্থেকে কোন গুলি চলার আগেই, The security forces were closing in , firing heavily in their direction. এটাও মনে হয় যৌথবাহিনীর করার অধিকার ছিল না।
    হয়ত প্রকৃত সত্য কখনো প্রকাশিত হবে, বা হবে না, শেষেরটার সম্ভাবনাই বেশী। তবে আজাদ আর তার পর কিষেণজি - শীর্ষস্থানীয় মাওবাদী নেতারা এইভাবে মারা যাওয়ায় আলোচনার মাধ্যমে শান্তির চেষ্টা তো বিশ বাঁও জলের তলায় গেলই, মাওবাদীদের হাতে আরও অনেক প্রতিশোধমূলক হত্যার দরজা খুলে গেল, যার উদাহরণ - শনিবার লাতেহারে পুলিশকর্মীদের হত্যা।

  • শহীদ কিষেণজির নাম ব্যবহার করে যে আরও অনেক ছেলেমেয়েকে মাওবাদীরা নিজেদের দলে টানার চেষ্টা করবে, তাও বোধহয় চোখ বুজেই বলে দেওয়া যায়। সরকার যদি এই সমস্যা সমাধানের জন্য সত্যিই আন্তরিক হয়, তাহলে মাওবাদী নেতাদের মেরে না ফেলে জেলে বন্দী করতে পারলে সরকারেরই লাভ, আলোচনা চালানোর জায়গাটা অন্তত থাকে।
